The hotel at a glance.
On the Plage de la Bouillabaisse at the entrance to Saint-Tropez, a few minutes from the village centre, Cheval Blanc St-Tropez stands among pines on this stretch of the Riviera. According to the Michelin Guide, it is the only hotel in town with its own private beach on site. The hotel opened in 1936, was bought in 2016 as La Résidence de la Pinède and reopened under the Cheval Blanc name in 2019, after a renovation completed with the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Its gastronomic restaurant, La Vague d'Or, holds three Michelin stars (as of 2026).
Why it stands out
- A beach of its own on the Plage de la Bouillabaisse, and a heated pool
- La Vague d'Or holds three Michelin stars (as of 2026) and 19/20 from Gault & Millau
- Roger Capron ceramics and furniture alongside Bernardaud craftsmanship
- Guerlain treatments at Spa Cheval Blanc and a hammam with a snow shower
From La Résidence de la Pinède to Cheval Blanc
The hotel opened in 1936. By 2016, when it was bought, it was known as La Résidence de la Pinède, and a major renovation followed, completed in 2018 with the help of the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. It reopened as Cheval Blanc St-Tropez in 2019 and has belonged since then to the Cheval Blanc collection, managed by the LVMH group. The Michelin Guide has awarded the hotel Two Michelin Keys (as of 2026), its distinction for an exceptional stay.
Wilmotte was also entrusted with the design. The Michelin Guide describes the interiors as rooted in Provence without falling into cliché, dressed in azure and white and full of works by local artists. Many rooms include ceramic artworks by Roger Capron, and the hotel pairs furniture by Capron with craftsmanship by Bernardaud and artworks it describes as made exclusively for the house.
Pines, a private beach and the gulf
The house stands among pines on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, and the hotel describes its view across the gulf to the village as unobstructed. The hotel's beach, on the Plage de la Bouillabaisse, is open to resident guests every day from 08:30 to 19:00, while the heated pool opens daily from sunrise until 19:00. At both, the staff serve light plates and colourful drinks inspired by Mediterranean flavours.
The village is within walking distance. The Michelin Guide places the busy waterfront and town centre a few minutes' walk away, and Forbes Travel Guide puts the stroll to the port at around 13 minutes.
Courtyard rooms, sea terraces and a duplex
The Chambre Classique Cour measures 30 m² and sleeps two, with a terrace over the inner courtyard and a bathroom with an Italian shower and separate toilet; it can be connected with a Junior Suite Mer. The Chambre Atelier Mer, at 20 m², is tucked under the roof on the first floor, in terracotta and cream tones devised by Wilmotte. It has a bathtub, Riviera Chic scented amenities and a terrace looking over the gulf, and it is reached only by an external staircase.
On the ground floor, the Chambre Deluxe Mer offers 30 to 40 m² for two guests, with a terrace overlooking the Bay of Saint-Tropez and a bathroom with an Italian shower, bathtub and separate toilet; it can be connected with a second Chambre Deluxe Mer. The Junior Suite Cour, 45 m² for up to three guests, was decorated by Wilmotte in blue and cream, in a contemporary style inspired by the artist Capron. It combines a bright bedroom with a sitting area, a separate dressing room and a bathroom with an Italian shower and separate toilet, and opens onto a 45 m² terrace with loungers facing the tree-lined entrance. It too can be connected with a Junior Suite Mer.
The Junior Suite Mer Deluxe, on the first floor, covers about 66 m² for two guests. Wilmotte designed it as a tribute to Capron, in a graphic scheme of blue and cream. It has a sitting area, a spacious separate dressing room, a bathroom with bathtub, Italian shower and separate toilet, and a terrace whose views over the gulf the hotel calls resplendent. On request and subject to availability, it can be connected with a Chambre Classique Cour. The Suite Deluxe Mer, with one bedroom, accommodates up to three guests.
The Suite Duplex Pinède spreads 90 m² over two floors for four guests, with three private terraces over the bay. On the first floor, the bedroom, in blue and cream punctuated by works by Capron, comes with a separate dressing room and a bathroom with bathtub, Italian shower and separate toilet. On the second, a mansard sitting room with panoramic views of the Bay of Saint-Tropez opens onto a terrace with a table and loungers, and a second bathroom has an Italian shower. The sitting room can comfortably take two children. Access is by stairs only, and the suite connects with the Junior Suite Vue Piscine.
Beyond the rooms and suites, the hotel offers the Villa Riviera, with four bedrooms for up to eight guests.

Three Michelin stars at La Vague d'Or
Chef Arnaud Donckele oversees the cooking at the hotel's two restaurants and its bar. La Vague d'Or, the gastronomic restaurant, holds three Michelin stars (as of 2026), five toques and a score of 19/20 from Gault & Millau, and opens every evening except Wednesday. On Wednesday evenings only, the hotel holds its Soirées Riviera, with live music and traditional Provençal cooking.
La Terrasse serves breakfast, presented by Donckele, and lunch in the shade of century-old pines facing the sea, where the "Sous les Pins" menu is served in a relaxed setting. Le Bar opens daily from 09:00 until late, with cocktails, detox drinks and light plates. Le Restaurant du Bar, reserved for resident guests, serves lunch, afternoon tea and dinner beside the bar or the pool. Carte Blanche, the in-room dining service, runs 24 hours a day and can also arrange a Mediterranean lunch on a private terrace or a picnic to take to a secluded cove.
Guerlain rituals, a hammam and snow
Spa Cheval Blanc opens daily from 09:30 to 20:00, with face and body treatments that Cheval Blanc and Guerlain created specifically for this hotel. Its Hammam & Neige area pairs a hammam and an experience shower with an ice fountain and a snow shower, and these spaces are open by reservation only.
The fitness area, indoors and outdoors, has Technogym equipment and sports coaches, and is open around the clock every day. A hair studio, Le Studio Coiffure, completes the wellness facilities.
Children's adventures and tailored days
Children are greeted with gifts and attentions designed for them. Babies sleep in bedding embroidered with stars and little horses, children have their own slippers and bathrobes, and the kitchen prepares purées for toddlers and more indulgent dishes for older brothers and sisters. The staff organise activities that bring children and adults together, and the hotel presents new ones each season for exploring Saint-Tropez and the region.
The hotel's staff, whom it calls the Artisans, arrange personalised activities and experiences around each guest's mood, occasion and wishes. Its suggested outings lead through the village lanes, sunlit vineyards, Provençal markets and the green hinterland.
