The hotel at a glance.
Hôtel La Réserve Ramatuelle occupies a vast private domain in the Provençal garrigue, overlooking a bay of the French Riviera a few minutes from Saint-Tropez. Its sea-facing villas pair Tropezian architecture with contemporary interiors, La Voile, led by Eric Canino, holds two Michelin stars (as of 2026), and a 1,000 m² Nescens spa draws on Swiss medical expertise. The hotel itself writes of an endless view of the sea and the chirping of cicadas.
Why it stands out
- La Voile, Eric Canino's restaurant with two Michelin stars (as of 2026)
- Sea-facing villas with heated pools set in vast private gardens
- Spa Nescens: 1,000 m² with hammam, 30 m outdoor pool and Pilates studio
- Pampelonne beach bar and restaurant reinvented by Michel Reybier and Philippe Starck
- Three MICHELIN Keys (as of 2026)
A 1970s hotel with a mid-century Riviera spirit
The hotel opened in the 1970s and was completely renovated under the architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, in work finished in 2009, while the villas' architecture and interiors were designed by Remi Tessier of the agency Dernier Etage. It belongs to the Michel Reybier group, and the MICHELIN Guide gives it Three MICHELIN Keys (as of 2026). The hotel has also been recognised in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards, and Spa Nescens features in the Tatler Spa Guide 2026.
The MICHELIN Guide traces the hotel's inspiration to Ramatuelle's most glamorous era, the 1950s and 1960s, and credits hotelier Michel Reybier and designer Jacques Garcia with mixing classic Provençal elements and high-modernist details. The suites carry that mood. The Corner Junior Suites recall the Riviera's golden age with a decorative-arts feel, hand-painted murals, soft organic ceramic light fittings and noble natural materials, while the Deluxe Junior Suite has decor reminiscent of the Sixties. Outside, the sea-facing villas combine Tropezian architecture with contemporary decor.
Garrigue, cicadas and a Riviera bay
Ramatuelle lies just inland and uphill from Saint-Tropez, and the estate spreads across Provençal garrigue facing the sea. The hotel counts its bay among the most beautiful on the French Riviera and describes the grounds as lulled by the chirping of cicadas. Saint-Tropez is only a few minutes away, yet the estate is presented as far from crowds and noise. Depending on the suite, the view runs towards Cap Taillat or Cap Camarat.
Suite stays include a shuttle, depending on availability, to Place des Lices in Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle village, La Réserve à la Plage and other beaches at Pampelonne, and the villa offers list a complimentary transfer to the beaches and Saint-Tropez on request.
Junior suites, a family suite and villas
The Corner Junior Suite Sea View with Terrace sleeps two in a king-size bed and measures 60 m², with a 25 m² terrace. It sits on the second floor at the far end of the building, facing Cap Taillat, and can connect to a neighbouring suite. Equipment includes a balneotherapy bath, a rain shower, a Devialet speaker, Apple TV and, on the terrace, a table for two and a lounge area.
The Deluxe Junior Suite Sea View with Terrace, also for two, measures 80 m² and looks out to sea and towards Cap Camarat. It lies at the centre of the hotel, close to Spa Nescens and the restaurant. Its bathroom has a round Jacuzzi bath, there is a large enclosed dressing room, and the bedroom includes a lounge area facing the sea. The terrace holds two sun loungers and a table for two.
The Camarat Suite was designed for family holidays. It sleeps four in 100 m², with king-size and twin beds, and adds 170 m² of terrace and garden with views of the sea and Cap Camarat. On one side is a master suite with what the hotel calls one of the finest views in the region, on the other a children's bedroom, plus an independent living room; outside are a lounge and a dining area with a table for six. There are two bathrooms, one with a balneotherapy bath, and yoga equipment, and the suite lies close to the restaurants.
The villas stand among pine groves in vast private gardens, each with a heated swimming pool. Some are perched at the top of the hill above the sea, others sit among stone pines, Florentine cypresses and eucalyptus, and several lie close to the water. Sizes run from a three-bedroom villa of 250 m² to the only two six-bedroom villas, of 450 to 550 m², which have broad arched windows framing the views and master bedrooms with walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms. Villa 10, with six bedrooms, measures 550 m². Among the five-bedroom villas, Villa 4 extends to 420 m² and Villa 18 to 330 m², while the four-bedroom Villa 7 covers 320 m².
Villa services range from a dedicated butler and housekeeper to a private chef and a Clefs d'Or concierge service available around the clock, and they come in two formulas. The Signature stay includes daily housekeeping, breakfast in the villa, room service dining, a 24-hour reception, organised family activities and an estate under 24-hour security. The Privilege stay adds a private chef for lunch and dinner, with groceries charged separately, a car with chauffeur, a golf cart for getting around the estate, two hours a day of spa treatments or personal training, and a night-time security guard. Babysitting, boat hire and airport transfers can be arranged on request.
Outside the summer season, the hotel's winter pages centre on long stays in the villas, each with personalised services including a dedicated housekeeper and a private chef. As the season slows, villa guests keep access to the spa's indoor pool, hammam, fitness centre, Pilates Reformer studio and Contrast Therapy, and the concierge team can arrange seasonal experiences.

A double-starred chef and a Pampelonne beach table
La Voile is led by Eric Canino, and the MICHELIN Guide lists it with two MICHELIN Stars (as of 2026). His cooking follows the terroir of Provence, giving pride of place to fish, olive oil, fruit, vegetables and aromatic herbs from the hotel's kitchen garden, and an all-vegetable menu runs from starter to dessert. Tables are set under white sail shades on a terrace above the Mediterranean. In season, breakfast is served from 07:30 to 10:30 and dinner from 19:30 to 21:30, and suite stays include breakfast either at La Voile or in the suite.
Just beyond La Voile, La Brasserie serves Eric Canino's take on the classic holiday dishes of the South, with dinner from 19:30 to 21:30 on a terrace that has the sea on one side and a hearth on the other. La Muña, on the roof, serves Japanese-Peruvian cuisine at dinner from 19:30 to 22:00. Beside the pool, La Piscine serves Italian cooking in the shade of greenery with, in the hotel's words, a hint of Dolce Vita, and L'Oliviera Bar has a terrace overlooking the Mediterranean.
Down on Pampelonne beach, La Réserve à La Plage was reinvented by Michel Reybier and Philippe Starck as a bar, restaurant and relaxation area, where guests sit with their feet in the sand facing the Mediterranean. La Voile, La Brasserie and La Muña are all accessible to guests with reduced mobility.
Spa Nescens and its Swiss expertise
Spa Nescens covers 1,000 m² of what the hotel calls immaculate whiteness and serenity, devoted to holistic wellness and drawing on the medical expertise of the Swiss brand Nescens. Facilities include a hammam, contrast therapy, a Pilates Reformer studio, a fitness centre and a herbal tea bar, along with a heated 12 m indoor pool with jets and a 30 m outdoor pool. The indoor pool and hammam open daily from 09:00 to 20:00, treatments are given daily between 09:00 and 19:00 by appointment, and the fitness centre is accessible around the clock. The spa is accessible to guests with reduced mobility.
Beyond single treatments, the spa runs programmes of three to five days built around targeted objectives, from Bootcamp Performance to Mental Wellness Escape, and the Women's Better-Aging stay, first launched in 2024, supports women at every stage of life. Outside guests can book treatments, while the pools, hammam and fitness centre are reserved for hotel guests, members and spa-day visitors.
Vineyards, horses and the bays beyond
The hotel's list of outdoor outings begins on the surrounding hillside: mountain-bike or e-bike rides along nearby trails end with a tasting of local wines or a picnic among the vineyards, and horse rides go through the forest and vineyards before a swim in the sea on horseback. From the air, a microlight flight passes over Cap Taillat and Cap Camarat.
On the water there are sunset outings in a Polynesian dugout and full-moon trips by sea kayak or stand-up paddleboard, and boat trips reach as far as Porquerolles, the Lérins Islands off Cannes or Monaco. Inland, the hotel points guests to Château La Mascaronne, a vineyard at Le Luc-en-Provence less than an hour's drive away, and further afield to the three Cistercian abbeys known as the 'Three Provençal Sisters': Le Thoronet, Silvacane and Sénanque.
