Le K2 Palace stands at 1,850 metres at the foot of the Cospillot piste in Courchevel, so a ski holiday in the French Alps starts at the door, with the 3 Vallées opening straight from the hotel. Opened in December 2011 and imagined by Capezzone Architecture with the peaks of the Himalayas in mind, it is laid out like a hamlet on the mountainside, and its decoration draws on Tibet. It received the French Palace distinction in July 2014 and holds it today.

Why it stands out

  • Ski-in ski-out access to the 3 Vallées from the Cospillot piste
  • Three MICHELIN Keys, awarded in 2024, and the Palace distinction, received in July 2014
  • Tibetan-inspired decoration in a hotel imagined by Capezzone Architecture
  • Suites-Chalets on several levels, linked to the main building indoors
  • A 500 m² Goji Spa by Nescens with swimming pool

A Himalayan vision at Courchevel 1850

Le K2 Palace belongs to the investors Philippe Capezzone and Jean Moueix. Its decoration pays homage to the Himalayas and gives the interiors a Nepalese atmosphere, and the property extends beyond the main building into Suites-Chalets and private Chalets. In 2017, three years after receiving the Palace distinction, the hotel joined The Leading Hotels of the World.

For the coming winter the rooms and suites receive a new decoration by Capezzone Architecture, to be discovered from December. The hotel describes finely worked wood, deep velvets and delicate fabrics in the rooms, and alpine wood panelling in warm tones with delicately worked bronze in the suites, where the design draws on distant lands and Himalayan influences with a discreet elegance, free of ostentation. The MICHELIN Guide awarded Le K2 Palace Three MICHELIN Keys in 2024, the highest level of its hotel distinction, and still lists it with three.

At the foot of the Cospillot piste

Set at 1,850 metres and facing the mountains, the hotel opens directly onto the slopes of Courchevel 1850, so guests can ski out in the morning and back at the end of the day. From the Cospillot piste at its foot, the 3 Vallées open up, a domain the hotel describes as the largest ski area in the world: 600 km of skiing linking Courchevel with Méribel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens, and more than 1,500 hectares of pistes, all connected by lifts. Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, telemark and skijoring are all practised there, by beginners and experienced skiers alike.

Off the pistes, the hotel is close to the village centre, and the MICHELIN Guide notes the easy access to Courchevel 1850, the highest point of one of Europe's best-known ski resorts. Within the hotel, the ski shop offers a made-to-measure service and the K'Boutique sells clothing and accessories.

According to the hotel, Chambéry airport is 1 hour 30 minutes away, Lyon-Saint Exupéry 2 hours 10 minutes and Geneva Cointrin 2 hours 15 minutes. Drivers take the A43 and A430 motorways to Albertville, the N90 to Moûtiers and the D915 and D91A up to Courchevel. By rail, TGV and Eurostar services reach Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains, 30 minutes from Courchevel, and a taxi covers the last stretch. A helicopter connection is also possible, and Courchevel's altiport lies 2 km from the hotel.

From Classique rooms to four-level chalets

The Chambres Classique, from 33 to 48 m², set the standard. Each has a 200x200 King-Size bed, a dressing area, a relaxation area with desk, a bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower, a separate WC with hygienic shower and a balcony with a view. A safe, Apple TV, iPad, Sonos speaker, minibar and Nespresso machine are supplied, and one Classique room is accessible to guests with reduced mobility. The Chambres Deluxe measure 42 to 44 m² and the Chambres Prestige 50 to 62 m²; both have the same bathroom and equipment, with a balcony or terrace with a view. The hotel also offers a pillow menu.

Families look first at the Chambres Prestige Familiales, from 53 to 60 m², which pair a King-Size bed with two 80x190 bunk beds for up to two children aged 12 and under, with further sleeping space possible. The Suite Broad Peak develops the idea over 82 m² and two levels: an entrance with wardrobe, a living area, a balcony with a view, a bunk-bed bedroom and a shower room below, and a King-Size bedroom with dressing area, relaxation area and a bathroom with bathtub above. The Suites K1 and K2, each 105 m² over two levels, place a living area, balcony and shower room downstairs and a King-Size bedroom with dressing area, relaxation area, its own balcony and a bathroom with bathtub upstairs. These suites open widely onto the surrounding mountains, the Courchevel valley and the forests.

In December 2023 the hotel added new Suites-Chalets of close to 300 m² alongside what it calls the legendary Suite-Chalet K3. Decorated in the Tibetan spirit of the K2 Collections group, they have three bedrooms, one of them a master suite of nearly 70 m² with a hammam, as well as a large living area with a fireplace and a terrace facing the Dent du Villard, and each is linked to the main building by an indoor walkway. K3, 268 m² over three levels, has two King-Size bedrooms on level 0, a master bedroom whose bathroom adds a steam bath on level 1, and an open-plan living and dining room with a designer fireplace and a large terrace with panoramic mountain views on level 2. Each Suite-Chalet has a butler for breakfast and afternoon tea and a home cinema, and K3 and the 322 m² K4, with two bedrooms convertible to twins and a TV lounge, are accessible to guests with reduced mobility.

K5 covers 252 m² and K6 271 m², both over three levels. K7 runs to 280 m² across four levels, with a TV lounge, guest WC and two bedrooms convertible to twins; K8, 251 m² over three levels, places three bedrooms on two floors, and one of its bathrooms adds a steam bath.

Beyond these, the Chalets stand on the edge of the piste, adjacent to the hotel and linked to it by the walkway. They range from 480 to 650 m², and each has its own pool, a hammam or hot bath, a ski room, five to seven bedrooms, a living room with fireplace, a TV area, a dining room, an equipped kitchen and sunny terraces. The pools come with waterfalls and counter-current swimming, every Chalet has a home cinema, and Muztagh adds a cinema room with nine armchairs.

Peruvian cooking, embers and fondue

L'Altiplano serves what the hotel calls gastronomic Peruvian cuisine, with Nikkei cooking bringing a modern edge to dishes built on fire, condiments and umami. The hotel speaks of ancestral cooking methods and produce chosen from committed artisans and farmers, served in a spirit of sharing, and at dinner Guillaume Duchemin and Julien Vocanson bring Peruvian specialities to the table. The MICHELIN Guide describes a cosy room where wood and stone strike a harmonious balance. Dinner is served from 19:30 to 22:00, with music by a DJ, valet service and access for guests with reduced mobility.

Le Bottleneck cooks over embers and serves cheese fondues. Le 8611 is the hotel's lounge bar and Le Winston Klub its smoking room, and the hotel keeps a wine cellar it describes as holding a thousand and one bottles. Room service brings a selection of dishes to the room or suite.

The Goji Spa and a well-equipped gym

The Goji Spa by Nescens covers 500 m² and includes a swimming pool, sauna, hammam, hot bath, cold bath and jacuzzi, alongside massage cabins, a herbal tea room and a hair salon. Its treatment menu covers signature face and body treatments, massages and treatments for children's well-being, and the hotel lists hot stone massages, foot reflexology and scrubs among the Nescens signature treatments.

The fitness room is fitted with the latest machines, among them a Huber Motion Lab, a Pilates Reformer, treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent bikes, rowers, a Kinesis station, leg-extension and abdominal machines, weight benches and free weights, plus a cycling simulator of the Courchevel climb. A coach gives advice and builds personalised programmes, and can lead a tailored session in the gym or the pool area, adapted to each guest's level and goals.

The Kids Klub and round-the-clock service

The Kids Klub, entirely renovated, welcomes children of all ages in spaces designed for them, where professional animators devise varied, personalised activities every day, under the supervision of parents. The youngest have a ball pool, a carousel, a sweet machine and dressing-up, and the programme runs from treasure hunts, bowling and video game tournaments to a magic show, pastry workshops and a mini-disco. Teenagers have their own high-tech space with arcade games, driving simulators and latest-generation PS5 consoles, and the children's area also has a cinema room.

Reception and the concierge are open 24 hours a day, every day of the week, and a porter and valet service operates within Courchevel 1850. The hotel also puts on a programme of music, shows and magic. Currency exchange is available, with rates updated daily for euros, American and Canadian dollars, pounds sterling and Swiss francs. The Klub, meanwhile, offers what the hotel describes as an exclusive service attending to guests' wishes.
