On Boulevard Haussmann, in the Grands Magasins district of Paris, Hôtel Bowmann sets modern furniture design and contemporary decoration inside classic Haussmannian architecture. The house pairs heritage with avant-gardism, in the hotel's own words, and the detail follows: gold leaf, marble and crystal chandeliers in the rooms, a library and period marble fireplace in the restaurant, and a penthouse with a panoramic terrace. The hotel also has a wellness area with a heated pool, a hammam and a jacuzzi, and the Opéra is 1.1 km away.

Why it stands out

  • Haussmannian architecture paired with modern furniture design and contemporary decoration
  • 100 m² penthouse suite with a panoramic terrace
  • Some suites have terraces looking towards the Eiffel Tower
  • Chef Loic Trobrillant's Mediterranean-inflected cooking at 99 Haussmann
  • Heated pool, jacuzzi, hammam and a gym open around the clock

Haussmann architecture, contemporary interiors

The MICHELIN Guide calls the Bowmann a newcomer to the Parisian luxury-hotel scene that fits in without trouble, a lively mix of classic Haussmannian architecture with modern furniture design and contemporary decoration. The hotel frames its own idea in similar terms, as an alliance of tradition and innovation, heritage and avant-gardism, savoir-faire and creativity. It calls its vision of luxury audacious and clever, one that sets out to bring ethics and aesthetics together.

In the rooms, the hotel promises the charm and comfort of a typically Parisian residence, with refined decoration picked out in gold leaf, marble and crystal chandeliers. In the 99 Haussmann restaurant, a library and a period marble fireplace give the room a cosy atmosphere, and the bar is dressed with curiosities, oil paintings, classic books and warm furnishings. The hotel likens a visit to its bar and lounge to being received in the cosy living room of a Parisian house.

Between the Opéra and Parc Monceau

The hotel stands at 99 Boulevard Haussmann in the 8th arrondissement, in the Opéra – Grands Magasins district of the city centre. The MICHELIN Guide places it close to the Parc Monceau, among the many art galleries at the northern end of the arrondissement. Saint-Augustin station, on Métro line 9, is 0.2 km away.

Several landmarks are within walking distance: the Palais de l'Élysée is 0.5 km from the door, the Musée Jacquemart-André 0.6 km, Parc Monceau 0.9 km and the Opéra National de Paris 1.1 km. Further afield, the Louvre is 2.2 km from the hotel and the Eiffel Tower 2.5 km, and some of the suites have a terrace with a view of the tower and the city.

From Supérieure rooms to a panoramic penthouse

The hotel promises bathrooms with walk-in showers and made-to-measure bed linen. The Bowmann Supérieure measures 25 m² for two guests, with a large bed or twin beds. The Haussmann Executive, for up to two adults with a double bed, comes as a City View or Garden View room, each with a shower, signature furniture, air conditioning, an espresso machine, a flat-screen television, a minibar, a safe and a pillow menu.

The Haussmann Deluxe, at 30 m² for two with a large bed, adds a sitting room and a shower with waterfall massage to the same signature furniture and pillow menu. The Haussmann Junior Suite, at 33 m² for up to two adults with a double bed, has its own sitting room and either a bathtub or a shower with waterfall massage. Families have a dedicated option in the Chambre Familiale, 52 m² for four guests with a large bed or twin beds.

The suites all have a king-size bed, a wardrobe, a lounge area separate from the bedroom and a private bathroom with separate shower and bathtub; some are adapted for families of up to four, and others have high ceilings. The Suite Baron Haussmann, for up to four guests with extra beds, has Haussmannian mouldings, a fireplace, a bath and a shower with waterfall massage, and a lounge area with two modern armchairs and a coffee table. The Suite Prestige Eiffel measures 43 m² and sleeps four, with a large bed. Finally, the Penthouse Bowmann with Panoramic Terrace covers 100 m² for four, with a 210 by 200 cm bed.

Bistronomy and cocktails at 99 Haussmann

The restaurant and bar 99 Haussmann, with its terrace, is described by the hotel as both refined and relaxed, a resolutely Parisian place for meeting and conversation. According to the hotel, Chef Loic Trobrillant honed his skills at some of France's finest establishments and at restaurants around the world, most recently The Palm at One & Only Dubai. He adds a Mediterranean touch to seasonal local ingredients, and his cooking also extends to the bar, the patio and room service. The bistronomic menu, built on fine produce, works as well for one diner as for a group.

At lunch, from Monday to Friday between 12:00 and 14:00, the restaurant serves a market menu that the hotel presents as a journey of flavours signed by the chef. Dinner runs every evening from 19:00 to 22:30. Breakfast, served daily, brings breads, pastries and sweet and savoury dishes with a wide range of hot or cold drinks. The restaurant room and patio, just next to the bar, can also host private dinners and other celebrations, with menus devised alongside the culinary team.

Bar 99 is a craft cocktail bar with a guest-only entrance from the hotel, pouring what the hotel calls balanced and lively spirits alongside a small-plates menu with French-inspired flavours. The bar and lounge overlook the street, enjoy plenty of light and are open daily from 12:00 to 22:00. Room service runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A heated pool, hammam and Terraké spa

The wellness area has a heated pool, a jacuzzi, a Turkish hammam, a balneotherapy shower, a herbal tea room and two treatment cabins, all of which hotel guests can use during their stay. Treatments are given in partnership with Terraké France, and the Terraké spa is open every day from 11:00 to 20:00.

The fitness room is free for hotel guests and open 24 hours a day, with a cardio area that includes a treadmill and an elliptical trainer alongside other TechnoGym strength and cardio equipment.
