Behind a classic Haussmann exterior on Boulevard Malesherbes, the Hyatt Paris Madeleine stands a few steps from the Église Saint-Augustin, in the Madeleine quarter of Paris, within easy walking distance of the Louvre and the Opéra. At its heart, La Chinoiserie sits beneath a glass roof made by Gustave Eiffel's workshops, and two top-floor suites look out to the Eiffel Tower, one of them with a private 40 m² terrace.

Why it stands out

  • Period glass roof from the Eiffel workshops crowning La Chinoiserie
  • Top-floor Suite Tour Eiffel with Eiffel Tower views and three Juliet balconies
  • Suite Présidentielle with a private 40 m² terrace and panoramic city views
  • Short walk to the Palais Garnier and the Église de la Madeleine
  • Fitness and wellness centre open around the clock

Haussmann lines and an Eiffel glass roof

The hotel features in the MICHELIN Guide's hotel selection, and the guide finds its style "at least as much Haussmann as Hyatt", starting with an exterior it calls as classic as it gets. Inside, it sees the guest rooms as a comfortable modern update on the original design, and the décor as nothing if not subtle: if there is such a thing as opulent minimalism, the guide suggests, this may be it.

The guide dwells on the details: feathery duvets, warm lighting, marble bathrooms, and curtains so generous that they fall past the base of the large windows and gather in neat folds on the floor. La Chinoiserie's glass roof is a period piece signed by the Eiffel workshops, and the MICHELIN Guide adds that the Eiffel Tower itself is visible from some of the rooms.

Between Madeleine, Opéra and Saint-Augustin

The hotel stands at 24 Boulevard Malesherbes in the 8th arrondissement, in the Madeleine neighbourhood of the historic centre. The Église de la Madeleine is 0.24 miles away and the Palais Garnier 0.47 miles, while the Église Saint-Augustin can be admired from some of the balconies. The Champs-Élysées, the Grands Magasins and the Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré are all within a short distance.

Further afield, the Eiffel Tower is 1.58 miles from the hotel and Notre-Dame de Paris 1.89 miles. For the metro, the hotel points guests to two stations: Saint-Augustin, on line 9, and Madeleine, on lines 8, 12 and 14.

For trains, Gare Saint-Lazare is 0.7 km away, Gare du Nord 4 km, Gare Montparnasse 5 km and Gare de Lyon 6 km. Paris-Orly airport lies 19.3 km from the hotel and Paris-Charles de Gaulle 31.5 km.

From courtyard rooms to top-floor suites

The Queen room measures 18–22 m², with a queen bed, a marble bathroom with bath, a wardrobe, a desk and a view over the inner courtyard. The Family Room pairs two connecting rooms of 18–22 m² each, with a queen bed plus a king bed or twin beds, two marble bathrooms with baths and courtyard views, and it comes with special touches for children. The Deluxe Queen and Deluxe Twin, both 20–23 m², have a separate marble bathroom with bath and also look onto the courtyard.

The Deluxe King, 22–27 m², is described by the hotel as bathed in light, with a king bed, a marble bathroom with bath and a storage cupboard, again facing the courtyard. The Deluxe King with View, 25–27 m², adds a separate shower and a dressing room, and looks onto Boulevard Malesherbes or the Église Saint-Augustin. The Premium rooms, 28–36 m², are Haussmann-style with high ceilings: the Premium King looks onto either the leafy courtyard or the boulevard and the church, while the Premium Twin, on the lower floors, faces the courtyard and has a large cupboard and a marble bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bath.

The Suite Junior Twin, 38–40 m², is likened by the hotel to a Parisian apartment and overlooks Boulevard Malesherbes, the Haussmann façades and the Église Saint-Augustin; it has two twin beds, a sofa bed, a large cupboard and a marble bathroom with separate bath and shower, and the Suite Junior King shares that layout around a king bed. The 60 m² Suite Madeleine faces the courtyard, with a king bedroom, a living room with sofa bed, a large cupboard and a marble bathroom with separate bath and shower. The 60 m² Suite Parisienne has views over the Parisian rooftops and the Église Saint-Augustin, a large bedroom with a king bed, a sitting room with a sofa bed and a marble bathroom with double basin, bath and separate rain shower.

On the top floor, the 48 m² Suite Tour Eiffel has views of the tower from both the bedroom and the sitting room, with three Juliet balconies, a king bed, a large dressing room and a marble bathroom with double basin, bath and walk-in shower. The 105 m² Suite Présidentielle, a mansard suite on the same floor, has a private 40 m² terrace and panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur and the Opéra Garnier. Inside are a large living room with a dining table for up to eight, a bar, a king bedroom and a marble bathroom with double basins, separate bath, rain shower and Japanese Toto toilets. The Suite Tour Eiffel and the adjoining Suite Présidentielle can be booked together.

Café M and La Chinoiserie

The hotel has two restaurants, Café M and La Chinoiserie, both serving seasonal dishes that it describes as gastronomic. Café M looks out over Boulevard Malesherbes and serves the cooking of chef Julien Rousseau, who combines freshness, seasonality and indulgence in reworked traditional French dishes; the hotel calls his menu an ode to French gastronomy. Café M serves breakfast from 06:30 to 10:30 Monday to Friday and from 06:30 to 11:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. Lunch runs from 12:00 to 14:30, Monday to Friday.

La Chinoiserie serves the Café M menu at lunch and dinner, and its all-day service runs from 12:00 to 22:30 every day. From 17:00 each day it offers a selection of signature Spritz, designed for the start of the evening, alongside classics and signature cocktails. Its menu also includes the Apéro Parisien, a selection of beers and gin from Paris. Room service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A fitness centre open around the clock

The fitness centre and wellness area are open 24 hours a day, with cardio machines and free weights, and a sauna available by reservation from 07:00 to 23:00. For exercise outdoors, the hotel suggests running routes nearby, and guests can use its electric bikes, subject to availability.

Services for families and drivers

A concierge service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Families are catered for beyond the Family Room itself: an extra bed or a cot can be requested in several room categories. Self-service parking is available for guests arriving by car, and the hotel's charging points have a Tesla connector and a universal connector, so all types of electric vehicle can park and charge, with no reservation needed, subject to availability.
