The hotel at a glance.
Mandarin Oriental, Paris stands on rue Saint-Honoré on the Right Bank, within the Paris fashion district, a few minutes from the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries. The hotel describes itself as a homage to fashion and artistic creativity. Behind an Art Deco façade restored by Jean-Michel Wilmotte lies a planted garden, which many rooms and suites overlook, while several penthouses look out to the Eiffel Tower.
Why it stands out
- Garden views from many rooms, and terraces over the camellia garden
- Penthouses with Eiffel Tower views, roof terraces and private gyms
- A 14-metre indoor pool and fitness centre reserved for hotel guests
- Bar 8's marble bar, Lalique crystals and summer terrace
- Minutes from the Louvre, the Tuileries and the Opéra Garnier
An Art Deco façade and a designers' interior
The hotel opened in June 2011 as part of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. The MICHELIN Guide calls it a rarity in Paris, a hotel in a contemporary-style building, meant to feel modern yet Parisian, with an Art Deco influence that the guide reads as a tribute to the building's historic roots. The indoor garden was created by Wilmotte & Associés with the landscape artists François Neveux and Bernard Rouyer.
The interiors were shared between designers: the rooms, suites, public spaces and The Spa are the work of Sybille de Margerie, with furniture by Bruno de Caumont, while Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku designed the bar and restaurants. Art is part of the decoration: the Mandarin Terrace Rooms display Man Ray's 'Le Baiser' reproduced on velvet, each Deluxe Suite has a work by a local artist, and the Garden Terrace Suite's decoration is inspired by Haussmannian style.
The hotel was certified High Quality Environment and Sustainability by Certivea, a French government organisation. In the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2024 it was named first among favourite hotels in Paris, and in the 2026 awards it ranked first for Best Hotels in Paris and second for Best Urban Hotels in Europe.
Rue Saint-Honoré, close to Place Vendôme
The hotel stands at 251 rue Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissement, close to Place Vendôme, in what the MICHELIN Guide describes as the luxury shopping district just north of the Louvre; if the hotel has an edge over its peers, the guide adds, it is this location. The Opéra Garnier is also within a few minutes, which makes it a practical base for museums and shopping. Superior Rooms overlook the street's fashionable boutiques, while many other categories look over a garden that the hotel calls peaceful.
From Charles de Gaulle Airport the journey takes 35 to 45 minutes by car; from Orly it is 25 to 35 minutes by taxi or private transfer, depending on traffic. The hotel can arrange a private airport transfer when requested in advance.
Garden views, terraces and Eiffel Tower penthouses
All rooms are soundproofed and fitted with up-to-date technology. Superior Rooms have contemporary artworks, silk headboards, very large beds and a marble bathroom with a walk-in shower. The 39 m² Deluxe Room has a view of the garden or the street, king or twin beds, 500-thread-count linen and a bathroom with a walk-in shower or freestanding bathtub, stocked with Frédéric Malle toiletries; some have a private balcony and Art Deco decoration, and some can be connected to a Mandarin Room on request.
The Mandarin Room looks over the garden or the inner courtyard and has a sitting area with a desk and a bathroom with a sculptural freestanding bathtub and walk-in shower; some have a private balcony. The Mandarin Terrace Room has a large terrace overlooking the camellia garden. Families can take the 82 m² Family Room, two connecting rooms with marble bathrooms and a garden view. The 55 m² Junior Suite overlooks the garden, with a sitting area for dining or working, and can be combined with a twin-bedded Deluxe Room.
The 61 m² Deluxe Suite has a sitting room, a large dressing room and a white marble bathroom with a hammam shower. The 65 m² Duplex Suite spreads over two levels, with views of the rooftops and the Eiffel Tower and a bedroom with oriental motifs. The 78 m² Couture Suite, a homage to Parisian couture houses, has dining for four, a kitchenette and Bang & Olufsen equipment. The 75 m² Panoramic Suite evokes a Parisian apartment, and the 71 m² Terrace Suite has an outdoor space overlooking the garden.
The two-bedroom suites include the 100 m² Two Bedroom Junior Suite, with a sitting room overlooking the garden, and the 110 m² Two Bedroom Deluxe Suite, with oriental touches and a light-filled sitting room. Camélia, Bar 8 and the Cake Shop
Camélia, which the hotel describes as resolutely modern, serves French cuisine at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a children's menu, including at Sunday brunch. In spring and summer, dishes are also served in the hotel's garden.
Bar 8 is an intimate cocktail bar whose décor centres on a marble bar and Lalique crystals. It is open from 11:00 to 01:00, with last food orders at 23:00 and last drinks at 00:30, and offers eight exclusive cocktails, tapas by Chef Nina Haradji and a dessert trolley by Pastry Chef Julien Dugourd. In summer it has a lush terrace.
Rue Saint-Honoré bears the name of the patron saint of bakers, which, the hotel says, is why it offers high-end pastries at its Cake Shop. In-room dining runs 24 hours a day and includes a children's menu.
A spa of private suites and a 14-metre pool
The spa is organised around private treatment suites: four single and three duo suites, each with a hammam shower and a private changing room, the duo suites also with a revitalising pool. Treatments include signature massages and advanced body and face treatments, and the spa is open from 09:30 to 20:00.
Alongside the treatment suites are a 14-metre indoor pool, a hammam with oriental herbs and a fully equipped fitness centre. The pool is open from 07:00 to 22:00 and the fitness centre around the clock.
Families, gardens and arranged outings
Children are welcomed on arrival with robes, slippers, a MiniMO panda plush, toys and treats, and a tipi and a crib can be set up in the room on request. The planted inner courtyard suits families wanting to relax, and on request the concierges can suggest a selection of family experiences in Paris.
The hotel can arrange an outing to Golf Club de La Boulie, less than 20 km from Paris, with a driving range of more than 30 stations, two large putting greens and a chipping area. A private discovery of Sotheby's is reserved for members of the Fans of M.O. programme.
The garden suits weddings and small gatherings, and the event space takes up to 120 guests for cocktails, alongside four meeting rooms with garden views.
