A MORE INFORMED CHOICE

Stars, awards and reviews: three different perspectives.

A five-star hotel and a five-out-of-five review are not the same thing. Each signal has its own meaning.

Classification: a defined category

Official classification places a hotel within a country’s assessment system. On Hotel5only, the classification source and date remain attached to the record.

Awards: a separate distinction

A Palace distinction, a MICHELIN Key or a Forbes award comes from a specific programme. None should silently replace an official five-star classification. Each distinction needs its own source and date.

Guest reviews: a collection of experiences

Review platforms have different scales, audiences and verification methods. A score should be read with its provider, number of reviews and update date. We preserve those differences.

Editorial reviews: an identified visit

Our own reviews will be signed and dated. Until a visit is documented, no first-hand claim or editorial score appears. This keeps a sourced hotel record separate from an actual review.
